An Innovative Last Mile Logistics based on Hybrid Subway Deliveries in Urban Areas
The last mile of the delivery of an online order is the most important and the most demanding. This phase of delivery is the most complex and expensive in terms of resources as well. Resellers and e-commerce companies are looking to add services such as one-hour shipments or faster returns processes. To date, no satisfying solutions have been found to perform fast and large-scale deliveries of goods in urban environments. The proposed hybrid subway logistics model allows performing deliveries in one hour, reducing by up to 4 times of CO2 emissions and increasing the availability of drivers.
